Orientation for Membership
A prerequisite for membership is attending an Information/Get Acquainted/Orientation meeting that is presented in accordance with International Board policies. To qualify to join PWP, you need to be a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian. A prospective member must submit the name and address of another person who can attest to the fact they are a single parent, grandparent, or legal guardian of at least one child. This may be a professional reference (attorney, clergyman, employer, physician, supervisor, etc.) or an existing PWP member “in good standing”. The prospective member must also provide proper identification such as a driver's license, etc. The annual membership fee is very reasonable, only $45.00. (Of the annual fee, $20 goes to PWP International, $16 to Chapter 176, and $9 is for liability insurance.)
Most people who join have recently been through a difficult time or need to get out of the house. Volunteering to serve on the Board, or as a chairperson or Amigo host/hostess is often a good experience and there are many opportunities to participate.
Orientation meetings for prospective members of Chapter #176 are held at least monthly. One can be held before a meeting or event, so you can attend and participate afterwards. Chapter #176 also has one at Mike’s on Imperial Highway in La Mirada every month. Whether before an event or at Mike’s, a prospective member should call Ray Garcia at (626) 201-6705.
Check the calendar for when the next New Member “Orientation” meeting is at Mike’s. The location is:
Mike’s Classic Burgers
15838 Imperial Highway
La Mirada, 90638
Time: 7:00-8:00 PM
Host: Ray Garcia
